The Beaufort County Finance Committee approved the contract between the Bluffton Township Fire District and J Reed Construction/ Fire Facilities for the Burn Annex and Training Tower. The District is considering the Commissioner model and can be viewed at (http://www.firefacilites.com/)
The Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Bluffton Township Fire District Training Building has come to a close and we have received proposals from two vendors. Over the next few weeks we will be reviewing and evaluating the proposals to make sure that they meet or exceed the specifications that were set in the RFP. The two vendors submitted proposals that include a WHP Training Tower (http://www.trainingtowers.com/) and a Fire Facilities Training Building (http://www.firefacilities.com/). The next phase will include an interview and presentation from each vendor and will be scheduled at a later date. After interviews and presentations, the vendor will be evaluated and chosen.
The Request for Proposals (RFP) has been advertised to the public and a non-mandatory pre-proposal meeting is scheduled for 2:00 pm on August 4, 2015. The pre-proposal meeting allows prospective vendors to ask questions about the project to assist them in submitting a proposal package for the project. Proposals from vendors are due September 1, 2015. Once the proposals are received they will be evaluated and a vendor chosen. Depending on the proposals received and the facilities chosen the District may need to ask for a zoning variance for the height of the building. Current zoning on the site which is adjacent to Fire Station #30 allows a maximum height of 35 feet
