Prepared to Protect, Recognized for Excellence
Bluffton Township Fire District ISO Classification
The Bluffton Township Fire District is proud to maintain an Insurance Services Office (ISO) Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating of 2/2X. This rating is the result of a comprehensive evaluation conducted by ISO in 2019 and reflects our district’s dedication to providing excellent fire protection and emergency response services.
In ISO’s PPC system, a lower number indicates better fire protection capabilities, which can translate into lower property insurance premiums for property owners.
What the Classifications Mean:
PPC 2:
Applies to any property located within five road miles of a Bluffton Township Fire Station and within 1,000 feet of a recognized fire hydrant or water source.
PPC 2X:
Applies to properties within five road miles of a fire station but without a hydrant or recognized water source within 1,000 feet.
PPC 10W:
Applies to properties between five and seven road miles from a fire station with a recognized water source for fire protection.
PPC 10:
Applies to any property beyond seven road miles, regardless of water source availability.
Why ISO Ratings Matter
ISO ratings are used by most insurance companies to help determine property insurance premiums. Properties in areas with better fire protection ratings (lower PPC scores) often benefit from reduced insurance costs.
Our 2/2X rating places Bluffton Township Fire District among the top-performing fire departments in the nation—an achievement that not only reflects our training, equipment, and response capabilities but also directly benefits our residents and businesses.
