Bluffton, SC – The Bluffton Township Fire District (BTFD) invites the community to the Firefighter Recruit School Class 9 Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Lowcountry Community Church, located at 801 Buckwalter Parkway in Bluffton, SC.
The ceremony will honor 20 firefighter candidates from the Bluffton Township Fire District, City of Beaufort/Town of Port Royal Fire Department, Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue, and Hardeeville Fire Department. These recruits have successfully completed an intensive 10-week training program to prepare for service in their respective communities.
A keynote address will be delivered by Chief Jason Pope, Superintendent of the South Carolina Fire Academy.
During the ceremony, several awards will be presented to recognize exceptional achievements and leadership:
- Highest GPA Award: Presented to the recruit who demonstrated outstanding academic performance throughout the program.
- Brotherhood Award: This prestigious honor is awarded to the recruit who best exemplified leadership, dependability, and camaraderie among their peers.
- Cadre Award: Chosen by the Recruit Battalion, this award honors the Cadre Member who provided exemplary leadership, mentorship, and professionalism during Recruit Class 9.
The public is encouraged to attend and support the recruits as they celebrate this career milestone. No RSVP is required. Attendees from other fire departments are encouraged to wear their Class A uniforms to mark this formal occasion.
