BLUFFTON, S.C. (March 19, 2026) — Bluffton Township Fire District announces the appointment of Glenn Williams to its Fire Commission Board as an at-large member.

Williams was appointed by Beaufort County Council during their February 23 meeting. He was sworn in at Tuesday night’s Fire Commission Board meeting by Acting Chairman William “Bill” Rickett.

Williams fills the at-large seat previously held by Drew Bedingfield, who resigned to enjoy more time with his family. His appointment is for a four-year term that expires in February 2030.

Williams brings more than three decades of experience in public safety, emergency response and fire service leadership. During his career, he has served in a variety of roles, including firefighter, apparatus operator, shift captain, deputy fire marshal and battalion chief. He retired at the rank of Assistant Chief from the Lexington County Fire Service after more than 27 years.

In addition to his fire service experience, Williams has served in law enforcement and as an instructor in fire and emergency services, demonstrating a continued commitment to public safety and professional development.

His career reflects a strong focus on training, leadership and advancing the capabilities of emergency response organizations.

“Mr. Williams brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Fire Commission,” Rickett said. “His lifelong commitment to public safety and leadership in the fire service will be a tremendous asset as we continue to serve our community and plan for the future.”

The Bluffton Township Fire District looks forward to Williams’ contributions as the board continues to guide the organization’s mission of providing fire and life safety services across the district.
