Prevent. Educate. Protect.

Reducing Risks Before They Become Emergencies in Bluffton.

Community Risk Reduction (CRR) is about more than just fire prevention—it’s a data-driven, people-focused approach to public safety. The Bluffton Township Fire District’s CRR Division identifies potential risks in our community and creates targeted programs to reduce or eliminate them—before emergency services are even needed.

We work in partnership with local leaders, schools, public health officials, and most importantly, you, to create a safer Bluffton for all.

The mission of the Bluffton Township Fire District’s Community Risk Reduction Division is to identify risks and hazards through data interpretation and member input, and to implement public programs that reduce their impact and prepare citizens and visitors before emergencies happen.

CRR in Action

Our commitment to prevention has been recognized statewide. Bluffton Township Fire District has received the Fire Safe South Carolina Award six years in a row thanks to our:

  • Focus on data-informed decision-making
  • Public CPR, smoke alarm, and Safe Kids initiatives
  • Consistent fire safety messaging and outreach

We’re proud to be a leader in making Bluffton a safer, more resilient community.

CRR Week

Every January, we celebrate Community Risk Reduction Week, a national campaign to spotlight the importance of proactive safety. During this time, we:

  • Host public events
  • Share educational resources
  • Recognize the programs and people keeping our community safe

CRR Week emphasizes the five E’s of risk reduction: Education, Engineering, Enforcement, Emergency Response, and Economic Incentives.
