Complete Your AHA Heartsaver® First Aid Certification
Follow These Steps to Earn Your Certification:
- Step 1: Online Course
Complete the Heartsaver® Total – First Aid CPR AED Online Course ($23.00 via AHA website) before registering for your hands-on session. (If you’ve already finished Step 1, you can skip ahead to Step 2.) - Step 2: Skills Verification
Return to this page and upload your completion certificate using the registration form (depending on your device or platform, the form may appear to the right of this section or below). Once submitted, you’ll be registered for your hands-on Skills Verification with an AHA-certified instructor.
Important: The Skills Verification must be completed within 90 days of finishing Step 1. After you successfully complete Step 2, you’ll receive your official AHA certification card, valid for two years.
What You’ll Learn & Demonstrate:
- First aid roles, responsibilities, and priorities
- How to assess a scene and find the problem
- Removal of protective gloves
- Key steps in providing first aid
- Responding to heart attack, breathing difficulties, choking, severe bleeding, shock, and stroke
- Using an epinephrine pen
- Controlling bleeding and bandaging
- Identifying common injuries and illnesses
- Preventing illness and injury
- Understanding legal considerations for first aid providers
