Free Car Seat Safety Checks by Certified Technicians

Bluffton Township Fire District is proud to participate in the National Child Passenger Safety Certification Program, a collaborative effort led by SafeKids Worldwide and the South Carolina Department of Public Health. The goal of this program is to help parents and caregivers protect children while traveling in vehicles.

Our nationally-certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians offer free car seat safety checks, where they review car seat installation, provide personalized safety tips, and answer questions about best practices for your child’s seat based on their age, weight, and height.

This service is completely free of charge.

Inspection Availability

By Appointment Only
We do not accept walk-up requests. Inspections can only be performed by certified technicians, and scheduling ensures someone is available to meet with you.

Appointments are available Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., in 30-minute time slots.

  • Once your request is submitted, you will be contacted within 48 hours to confirm your appointment.
  • Requests submitted on weekends or holidays may experience a longer response time.
  • Your appointment is not confirmed until you hear from us.

What to Expect

Each car seat inspection appointment typically lasts about 30 minutes. Please arrive on time and be prepared to ask questions or demonstrate your current installation.
