Hello and Welcome to the Bluffton Township Fire District!

The Bluffton Township Fire District (BTFD) was created by the Beaufort County Council in 1978 to provide fire and emergency services to all residents of the County south of the Broad River excluding the Town of Hilton Head Island and Daufuskie Island.  However, long before the Fire District was officially chartered several concerned and dedicated citizens living in the area had already been volunteering and providing the much needed services that helped shape what is the current BTFD.  The District practices the core values of respecting our community and its citizens and guests, providing for continuous improvement of ourselves and services, providing leadership toward a safer community, providing service to our customers, maintaining the trust of the community, and controlling costs for the taxpayers.  Today the BTFD has evolved with the needs of the community in mind and is a fully paid fire and emergency services department.  The District is actively involved in the community and is one of the top ten employers in the Bluffton area with 132 full time employees providing service to the citizens around the clock.  The District operates eight fully staffed fire stations positioned strategically throughout its operational area to provide for more rapid response of emergency services should a citizen need assistance.

I invite you to stop in to any of the District’s facilities for a tour and to visit with the crews.  The men and women at the stations will be happy to show you around and give you an idea of what your fire department is doing and what your tax dollars are providing.
