Wildland Crew

The Bluffton Township Fire District Wildland Fire Crew is a resource committed to mitigating brush fires or wildfires in Bluffton, and mutual aid throughout the State, Southern Region and other Regions.

The BTFD Wildland Fire Crew was created in 2007. Development in Bluffton Township Fire District of 246 square miles and increasing number of Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) areas was the driving factor to create a Wildland Fire Program. The Wildland Fire Crew is a group of 24 highly motivate individuals who provide safe, effective support during brush fires, or wildland incidents. The Wildland Fire Crew provides quality learning experiences during incidents, training, and post incident After Action Reviews (AAR). Crew Members gain leadership skills, technical skills, and positive internal communication.

The USFWS Savannah NWR is the hosting agency for BBTFD Wildland Fire Crew since 2007.
