Training

The mission of the Bluffton Township Fire District’s Training Division is to consistently enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of all fire department personnel through standardized and progressive educational programs, as well as to support the organization’s mission by providing outstanding customer service.

The BTFD Training Division conducts extensive ongoing training to ensure that all members are prepared to meet the all-hazards needs of our customers.  Training topics often comprise continuing education in areas such as emergency medical services, fire suppression, hazardous materials, and search and rescue.  The Training Division partners with the South Carolina Fire Academy to host and deliver state and national certification courses in several disciplines including officer preparation and development, apparatus operation, and technical rescue. 

The Training Division is staffed by the Battalion Chief of Training along with two Assistant Training Officers (Captains) with further support provided by an Administrative Assistant. Training is co-located with the Maintenance Division next to our four-story training building.
